Traveling by Car

Out of Staters: We highly recommend renting a car or arranging a shuttle for your travel to Buena Vista, as well as for exploring the area.

From Denver International Airport (DEN)

  • Total Drive Time: Approximately 2 hours 35 minutes (145 miles).

  • Route: This route primarily uses US-285 South, which offers beautiful mountain views.

    1. Exit the airport and follow signs for I-70 West.

    2. Take I-70 West toward Denver.

    3. Take the exit for CO-470 E/US-285 S toward Colorado Springs/Fairplay (this is a partial toll road).

    4. Merge onto US-285 South toward Fairplay.

    5. Continue on US-285 S over Kenosha and Trout Creek passes.

    6. As you enter Buena Vista, turn right onto Arizona St.

    7. Turn right onto Riverpark Road.

    8. Turn left onto South Main Street.

    9. Turn right onto Front Loop. The Surf Hotel will be on your right.

From Colorado Springs Airport (COS)

  • Total Drive Time: Approximately 2 hours (105 miles).

  • Route: This route primarily uses US-24 West.

    1. Exit the airport and follow signs to merge onto S Academy Blvd.

    2. Take the exit onto I-25 North toward Colorado Springs.

    3. Take Exit 141 for US-24 West.

    4. Continue on US-24 West through Cascade and Woodland Park toward Fairplay/Buena Vista.

    5. US-24 West will merge with US-285 South just before Buena Vista.

    6. Turn right onto Arizona St.

    7. Turn right onto Riverpark Road.

    8. Turn left onto South Main Street.

    9. Turn right onto Front Loop. The Surf Hotel will be on your right.
